Mahesh Babu’s PLHF to facilitate treatment of children with congenital heart disease

Chenai: A firm believer that little hearts deserve the utmost care, Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu has now started a foundation called Pure Little Hearts Foundation (PLHF) at Rainbow Children’s Heart Institute (RCHI) which will seek to provide heart care to children.

The actor’s Mahesh Babu Foundation has partnered with RCHI for the noble initiative, under which economically challenged children with congenital heart disease would be treated at PLHF.

In India, congenital heart disease accounts for 10 out of 1,000 births. Thus, more than 200,000 children are born each year with congenital heart disease.

About a fifth of these infants are likely to have a serious birth defect, requiring intervention within the first year.

The families of a majority of these children cannot afford quality pediatric cardiac care, resulting in significant morbidity and mortality. Upon learning of this, Mahesh Babu, through his Foundation, has now collaborated with the Rainbow Children’s Heart Institute and started the Pure Little Hearts Foundation.

Speaking at the launch of the foundation, Mahesh Babu said: “Children have always been close to my heart. I am happy to support children in need of cardiac care at RCHI through the Mahesh Babu Foundation. Little hearts deserve the greatest care.

Mahesh Babu is a strong supporter of causes that save sick children. The actor, through his foundation, has facilitated heart operations for more than 1,000 children in hospitals in Andhra.

Meanwhile, the actor is associated with the “Heal A Child” foundation which supports children who have no financial support and cannot afford medical bills.

Mahesh Babu, who adopted Burripalem and Siddapuram villages in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana respectively, has assisted in health and hygiene programs and been responsible for social awareness in these villages through his Foundation Mahesh Babu.
