How Caption AI technology is speeding up diagnostics in healthcare

Legend Healtha leader in AI and services to improve cardiac ultrasound diagnostics, recently received regulatory approvals for its Caption AI technology platform in Canada and Australia.

Company CEO Steve Cashman pointed out that easy-to-use technology, especially images that patients can send to doctors, has been the main driver of better outcomes.

Steve’s thoughts:

“That was the magic for me. I spent the previous decade at telehealth, right? And so that was all about getting the right doctor to the right place with the right patient, right? And technology has broken down those barriers. But what we haven’t solved is having the right information at the time.

And at EnTouch, we had an app. Teledoc acquired the company two years ago and I left, but we had a telestroke program and we had about 3,000 rural emergency departments. And what was unique about that was that we could get a CT scan and get the picture of your brain and get a neurologist on the other end of Skype like we do today, in six minutes.

They could figure out if you had a stroke and how to treat it, and literally you lose millions of brain cells every minute while it’s happening. They say time is the brain, but without that picture of what happened with that stroke. It doesn’t matter if you have tender neurologists on the phone, there’s nothing you can do.

They lack the data they need to decide how to treat you. And so that was what was special about the legend. When they called me, I was like, man, like I didn’t want to wait until my grandma was in an ambulance. It happened to her and she sadly passed away. I want to know the week before; does she have a clogged artery?

Does she have a structural heart problem? And. So how do we get this image before? How can we remove this image of you at this time?
