Alyssa Milano has confirmed that her uncle, Mitchell Carp, will need heart surgery following their car accident in August.
The two were driving through Los Angeles when Carp suffered a heart attack while driving, causing the SUV to crash into a few oncoming vehicles before the Charmed actress brakes with her hand to stop the car.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at Variety’s Power of Women event last week, the actress confirmed that her uncle is now receiving outpatient care to prepare for heart surgery.
“He’s released from the hospital, he’s home,” she said. “He’s in care and they’re trying to build his strength to have an open heart surgery. So that’s kind of where we are now.” She also shared that he was doing well enough to attend her son’s baseball game earlier in the week.
While waiting for the paramedics, the Who’s the Boss? The star performed CPR on her uncle and was helped by “Good Samaritans” who stopped by to help her. Milano was not injured in the crash and provided updates on his condition and encouraged fans to achieve CPR certification.
When asked how she’s been doing since, Milano replied: “(If) you told me years ago: ‘You’re going to have a really bad accident.
